Scott, Carissa, Evelyn & Bobby

Scott and Carissa moved to Kentucky 18 months ago as two and will return to Nebraska in a couple of weeks as a family of four. Aren't they adorable? Even Bobby, the dog, was photogenic! We just met through our local little adoptive parents group and I'm sad we won't get to know them better, but so excited to have this opportunity to do their first official family photo session! Thankfully, they're great bloggers so we look forward to watching Evelyn grow up through her mommy's great pictures (oh yes! Carissa is also a photographer and tonight we swapped services and shot each other's families -- I think I definitely got the easier end of the bargain as Els could hardly stay still for more than a split second). Guys, we pray the best and share your joy in this next great venture in your lives!

Congratulations, Joe and Suzanne!

It was a joy to see Joe and Suzanne again after so many months of planning for this day! Though it was a hot and sticky day (true Kentucky July weather), they obliged me for some time outdoors (they really are as sweet as they look in their photos). In case you don't recognize the venue, they were married at the lovely Kavanaugh Life Enrichment Center, just outside of Louisville. I hadn't been to Camp Kavanaugh since my college days so it was a bit of a walk down memory lane for me to revisit this place where my husband and I share some of our earliest memories together! Congratulations! I'm looking forward to seeing you both back in Wilmore when you resume classes! Share/Bookmark

Congratulations, Johnny & Amber!

Saturday night was a treat to spend with Amber and Johnny's family at Amber's family home. They were married in the front yard and enjoyed a fun reception evening under the tent in the back under the glow of thousands of twinkle lights. There were so many great images from the day, it's always hard to distill them down to a few! These few don't do justice to all the great details and happy memories from the day but represent a few of my favorites, enjoy!

Congratulations, Carly & Matt!

The morning started out 'damp-ish' and then when the time came for Matt & Carly's pictures, the skies were dropping a steady rain. Though we were in the beautiful Estes Chapel at Asbury Seminary, I was really sad -- I was about to have my first 'rain in' of the year. Within minutes though, it cleared up and I was delighted that we were able to go outdoors for the rest of their photos. By the time the ceremony began, the clouds cleared, and the happy couple exited Estes to bright sunshine!

It was a beautiful wedding blessed by the presence of many family and friends. One could sense their blessing on the couple during a joyous singing of the communion hymn, "This is My Story, This is My Song," and I was reminded again why I enjoy weddings so much. Another fun aspect to this particular day was photographing fellow wedding photographer, Mary Lashbrook, who was a member of the wedding party!

Congratulations, Eamonn & Kate!

Happy 4th, Everyone! Last night was such a cool wedding to be a part of. We've been looking forward to this since hearing Eamonn and Kate's plans when we met with them last winter! They chose the lovely Carrick House for their outdoor wedding and greenhouse reception which didn't disappoint for portrait locations. It was also the perfect backdrop for Kate's classic-inspired wedding, suiting her authentic 1950's wedding gown and Eamonn's sear-sucker suit to a T. I know there were many moments while we were shooting around the house when I felt like I had gone back in time! We took a spin in their photobooth and I'll post some of those photos later. ;-)

I realize this post isn't the most well-rounded representation of the day, but these photos are some of my favorites that I could process quickly and just had to share. And Kate really isn't that serious -- she is extremely photogenic! I just loved the feeling some of these particular images evoked (like images from older editions of Life magazine). I can't wait to work on their slideshow so you can see more, but you'll just have to wait...
