Louisville Engagement Photos: Jessie & Zach

One of the things I've loved about photography is how it has reconnected me with friends and acquaintances from the past. A few months ago I was tickled to get an e-mail out of the blue from a girl I used to work with at Asbury's Admissions Office ('way' back, about 10 years ago). Jessie was writing to let me know that she was getting married and interested in me shooting her wedding! I was thrilled that she would ask me and even happier when everything was official for me to photograph her November wedding back here in Wilmore at Asbury Theological Seminary.

One of my favorite kinds of shoots are engagement sessions. They're wonderful 'warm up' sessions for the wedding day in a much more relaxed enviroment. Jessie and Zach chose to have their enagement pics taken at their church: Southeast Christian in Louisville. Their campus has a really fun student ministry building called "The Block" featuring a coffee shop, theatre, game area, and even a rock climing wall! There were all kinds of fun places to shoot and time was our only constraint. Special thanks go to John, a mutual friend, and staff member who came over on his free Saturday afternoon and gave us access to the space!

Lexington Children's Photography: 2-year-old "L"

I wish all 2 year olds were as easy to photograph as Miss "L". If she had any difficult moments, it might have been exerting her preference to wear dress #1 over dress #2 (Mommy's choice!). What can you say, though? I like a girl who has an opinion! Share/Bookmark

Lexington Children's Photography: "L"

Miss L was a quiet kind of girl. She didn't say much but would comply with my request to 'stand here', 'sit there', 'turn your head this way,' etc. At the end of our time together she still hadn't said much but when I got a peek at her blue fingernails, I had a feeling "L" had bunches of personality I hadn't gotten to see but wanted to know! I was glad to learn that she attends the same school as my daughter and I look forward to bumping into her now and again (as I did today) in the years ahead!

Louisville Engagement Photography: Jeremy & Tracy

For Tracy and Jeremy's engagement session we headed to the Louisville waterfront, site of their winter engagement. As one based in central Kentucy I was so excited to shoot somewhere different. The weather was great and we had fun wandering around looking for fun locations. I wish I could share them all! I think we got some great variety!

An outfit change and we meandered into downtown...

I love this one!

Thanks, guys, for a fun Saturday afternoon shoot! I'm looking forward to your September wedding!

Lexington Children's Photographer: The "B" Brothers

I grew up in a family of all girls, and since we only have one daughter (for now), the lives of brothers has always been a bit curious to me. These guys seemed to exemplify all the positives you think of in terms of a brotherly relationship, plus a lot of energy! Playmates, best friends, partners in crime -- the "B" brothers have it! Thanks, guys, for a peek into your lives! Give your mom a hug for me!

2-year-old "M"

This little guy IS as charming as his eyes imply! He's also got the energy of three his age, so thankfully we had both Mom and Dad's help during his session. Thanks, M, for sharing your zest for life with us! You made us smile!

Lexington Children's Photography: The 2-year-old "M" Twins

These boys are as sweet and good as they look! And what buddies they are! Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. M, for the opportunity to document this stage of their lives! It was a pleasure!
