The N Family

It was my pleasure to take some family photos with the N family this week! Last month Charley and Jackie traveled to Taiwan to bring little John home and officially into their family. They are smitten with their son, and though John does have a serious face much of the time (he is working on some bottom teeth, after all), he showed me that not only does he like to have fun he also adores his mommy and daddy. It was a chilly day so we started out indoors and then decided to see how long we could brave it and snap a few outside before our time was up. I'm so glad we did!

I told Jackie, "Only a mother would let a boy kiss her this way..."

John thinks his mom is hilarious!

There's those teeth!

Congratulations, DeShaun and Lindsey!

Quick note: it was a joy to have my childhood friend, Kelly, come down from Illinois to shoot with me this weekend. The 'zipper' image in the collage above is one of hers. This is probably the last event we'll shoot together for a while -- she's having her first baby in January and will start to shoot her own weddings next year. I wish her much success!

Yay! I've been so anxious to share these images from DeShaun and Lindsey's wedding! What a beautiful day -- in so many ways. Lindsey planned a beautiful wedding with so many wonderful details, beginning with the location which afforded some gorgeous photo opportunities. She also gave me lots of time before the wedding to shoot all of the portraits so we could experiment with locations (and wait for the clouds to blow over the sun -- which given the breeziness of the day, happened a LOT). Even the gorgeous deep blue sky echoed her color scheme and served as the final element to tie everything together.
DeShaun and Lindsey -- thank you for having me photograph your wedding! I hope these images bring you wonderful memories the rest of your lives!

The B Family

This week I had a chance to spend some time with the B family by photographing their family to celebrate the addition of Miss Journey who joined them early last month from Ethiopia. The kids were very cooperative, but poor Simeon (like any two year old) just wanted to play on the swings. Though he's not looking at me in this pic above, I do love this particular image for Journey's smile.
The image below shows life between the shutter snaps. While I am not the mother to a little boy, I can't help but think Simeon perfectly typifies a little boy here. I wonder what's going through his mind...

Abbi is such a great big sister. And you can see how Journey is thriving in her new family. She's inquisitive and active!

(Above) I adore this photo of Katie with her girlies.
(Below) The guys, though outnumbered now, hanging tough below.
I love how Simeon's best smile is where he wanted to be all along -- the swings.

Trevor and Shannon's Wedding Slideshow

Congratulations, Trevor and Shannon!

My assistant, Kelly, got these great images of Trevor (above)

We all thought the ringbearer's white socks were too cute not to photograph

Hunter and Peggy (Trevor's brother and mother) went to TOWN with decorating Estes with fresh flowers and candles. It was amazing! These photos don't do it justice.

Trevor and Shannon -- I'm SO sorry for the delay in getting these images from your wedding online! It wasn't for lack of desire on my part! The morning after your wedding I woke up under the weather... and proceded to stick close to my bed for the next three days. Now, thanks to antibiotics, I'm back and on my feet again and excited to share some of my favorite images from your wedding.
For those of you not there, it was a beautiful October wedding bedecked in nature's glorious fall colors. Allow me to give a free plug for those of you looking for event coordination: Trevor's brother, Hunter, and mother, Peggy, planned a wonderful wedding for Trevor and Shannon full of so many details (they have had a lot of experience, Peggy hostessing events for a major horse farm and Hunter working on the planning team for the Jesus Prom at Southland -- a formal event for thousands of special needs teens and adults in the area -- and working at Notables in the Party Store).
Shannon was beautiful and serene even at moments when everyone around her were puddles of tears. During the processional when the ringbearers made it halfway down the aisle before freezing, I heard some chuckling and turned around to see Trevor crouched at the end of the aisle holding a few new toys as enticement for them to finish their walk.
The reception was at the beautiful Spring Valley Golf Club. Music was provided by the Metrognomes. I wish I could have assembled another collage of pics from the reception to include Trevor's groom's cake. A media major who just finished a semester in Los Angelos and a month working at the Olympics, Trevor's was a layered cake resembling three stacked film reels. Very, very cool. My biggest regret from the day was forgetting to sample Shannon's pumpkin rolls at the reception (wow -- what bride has time to make pumpkin rolls for 250 guests)? Her dream is to own her own bakery someday, so if her goods taste as yummy as they look, I'm sure she'll be quite successful!

companion books

(Back Row) L: 12x12 Flushmount Album, R: 7.5 x 7.5 Photobook,
(Front Row) L (in box): 6x6, R: 4x4 Photobook

The FedEx man came this morning with a box of goodies for me -- more sample albums and I just wanted to share! On the left you can see Johnny and Amber's wedding as a 12x12 album with the new Reflectionz cover. Next to it you can see the new Photobook companion books which are exact replicas of the primary album. Printed on heavy cardstock pages, coated with a UV protective coating, the pages feature the same panoramic designs previously only available in flushmount albums.

Photobooks make wonderful gifts for Mom and Dad or grandparents. And, because they are available in a variety of sizes (from 9x9, 7.5x7.5, 6x6 to 4x4) at affordable prices (especially when purchased in bundles), you can even order a portable copy for yourself! I was skeptical that the 4x4 size would be large enough to appreciate the spreads with multiple photos, but I was wrong! It's adorable and perfect for tossing in your purse!

This is the perfect way to say 'thanks' to those who helped make your day special. Contact me in the next 3-4 weeks if you want to place an order for Christmas gift giving!

Travis and Betsy Get Married

Travis & Betsy were married on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon in the backyard of the home where Betsy's parents were also married, 32 years ago. The setting was intimate as family and friends gathered to witness Travis and Betsy promise a lifetime of commitment to each other. I could go on about all of the beautiful and personal touches and fun entertainment after the ceremony, but I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Travis and Betsy -- thanks for inviting me into your lives for this day in your life! It was an honor!
